Take Action
Ordinary people, using grassroots, network-based and actions-led strategies have had considerable success fending off climate-polluting industries. As the climate policy merry-go-round takes another turn, more people concerned about their future’s are realising that they’ve seen and heard it all before and are rightfully implementing their own solutions, in their own back yards.
Keeping fossil fuels in the ground by challenging extraction companies directly has been proven a highly effective means of keeping carbon out of the atmosphere, Te Whanau a Apanui for example, sending Petrobras, the third biggest petroleum company in the world packing quicker than you can say ‘emissions trading scheme’.
We believe that in bringing about a fair and effective transition to the healthier, fairer world, we would do well to re-prioritize building power from the bottom up. We can collectively exert pressure where we have real power, efficiently and where it matters. We can support one another collectively and together we can realise that it is ourselves who have the real solutions and the power to stop the polluters and create our own better worlds.
You can contact folks involved in various campaigns on the map above. We want to make it clear that CJA is not officially affiliated with these groups and campaigns, rather, we think these are good examples of people working towards achieving some aspects of climate justice that we appreciate and we would like to help like-minded people find one another.
